FAQ
I've never been on a track before. Can I attend?
Absolutely! We encourage novices to register to attend. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is an ideal place to start.
I want to do this, but isn't racing dangerous?
Racing can be, but it's important to note that _we_aren't_racing_ at Velocity Adventures' events. Our events are relaxed and fun, focused on education and safety: learning proper driving technique, evasive maneuvers, awareness, and good track etiquette, all while gaining speed and confidence. Most of what you learn on the track with us translates directly into daily driving and results in much more confident, skilled drivers who know not only what to do in case of an emergency situation but how to avoid the situation in the first place. Of course, every student leaves driving much faster at the end of the day than they did at the beginning of the day. Guaranteed!
I don't know if I can afford to do this. How much does it cost?
It's not as expensive as you might think! The cost for the day is $180, and a tech inspection is around $30, depending on where you get it completed. If your car doesn't need anything to pass inspection (the car needs to be road worthy with good tires, brakes, safety items, etc... nothing out of the ordinary!), you're done! Breakfast and lunch are included for participants, so you won't need to bring any money to the event.
What kind of cars are ok to take to a DE?
Any passenger car that can pass a safety inspection (see the inspection sheet in the Forms section) and has proper roll protection (please ask us if you have a convertible!) can be an appropriate car to learn in. Manual or paddle shift transmission is preferred, as more instructors are more familiar with these, but we can teach student in an automatic too. Sorry, no trucks or SUVs: a high center of gravity is not ideal for any kind of high speed or emergency maneuvers.
